How We Are Protecting Ourselves From Identity Theft
This article, or image to be more precise, has satirical written all over it. It makes fun of everybody in the world who has access to the internet, laughing at their ways to protect their identity in a very insecure place. The article shows percentages on billboards with the different methods that many inexperienced people use to hide their identity from unneeded attention. What many people don't realize is that almost every method many try is completely useless against a hacker of any caliber, especially when you don't do anything at all (which is what apparently 17% of people do) and just hope for the best. To top it off, the image even adds little mustaches to the tops of each billboard to mock these methods even further, stating that 'Your safety precautions are as flimsy as hiding your face with a fake mustache.
It seems that many people believe themselves to be Clark Kent: Hoping that nobody will find out who they truly are if they just put on a pair of glasses.
haha soo true!! you know how u can like personalize your cell phone names... i once got a call from a guy named Barack Obama, its like they're tryin to hide who they are, but buddy, if i have caller ID and i can see who's calling, i can just google your number and see who you are and where you live and everything about you. There's no real chance of hidding your true identity. You are so right :)

As an article, it gets it's point across simply and effectively. Explaining that people are bad at protecting their identity, by using simple methods to try and prevent such from occurring. In the long run, as the author of this feed has explained, all of these are useless ways of doing so against anyone who has even the slightest experience in stealing identities. Although, it also explains how simple the average person assumes identity theft is foiled, stopped or slowed at the very least.
ReplyDeleteHaha soo true!!! It is completely satirical in the way it shows how false your sense of security actually is. You know how you can personalize your cell phone number? Well I once got a call from a man who's cell phone name popped up as Barack Obama. It was like they were trying to hide who they actually are, but in realisty, if I have caller ID and I can see what your name is, then obviously I can see your cell phone numbber and if I was honestly curious about who you were, it would be more than easy enough to google you and find out who you are. There is no real chance of hiding your identity and the satirical picture you chose is just a perfect illustartion of this.
